

What is Taxotere?
Taxotere® (docetaxel) is a chemotherapy drug manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis. Taxotere® was first approved in 1996 and is used to treat breast cancer, prostrate cancer, stomach cancer, head and neck cancer, and certain lung cancers. It is administered intravenously and can be used alone or with other drugs. A common combination therapy for breast cancer patients is called TAC chemotherapy which includes Taxotere®, Adriamycin (doxorubicin) and cyclophosphamide.
What is the Taxotere Litigation About?
Taxotere® has been linked to permanent hair loss, but Sanofi-Aventis did not adequately warn of this risk until after a report by the FDA in December of 2015. FDA Statement. Prior to this label change, Sanofi-Aventis said “hair generally grows back.” Lawsuits against Taxotere’s® manufacturer generally allege that the drug causes permanent hair loss, that the manufacturer failed to adequately warn of this risk, and that there is an alternative medication that is as effective without the risk of permanent hair loss.
